The wife of the Mayor of Paphos, Louiza Andreou Phedonos, has categorically denied reports circulating in recent days regarding an alleged assault against her, describing the claims as “completely false.”
In a public statement following the latest developments, she rejected assertions that she had reported her husband, Phedon Phedonos, to the Police or that she had given any statement or statements in connection with the case. According to her, such claims have no basis in truth.
She further expressed strong concern over the motives behind the spread of these allegations, raising a series of pointed questions:
“Why would someone make such a claim? What interest do they have? Are they following someone’s instructions? In exchange for what, and with what objective? Why do they not consider that they are unprovokedly and unjustifiably offending another person? Why do they not respect the other person and their children? What kind of people are these? Are they the ones who will awaken us, or those who will mislead us to serve their own purposes?”
At the same time, the Police have confirmed that an ex officio investigation has been initiated into the matter, following public allegations that emerged in recent days. Speaking on the RIK television program “Proti Enimerosi” (Morning Briefing), Christodoulos Konsolos of the Police Press Office stated that the investigation is ongoing.
“If evidence arises that will partially clarify the situation, we will come out and announce the results,” Konsolos said.
According to police sources, the issue entered the public sphere after documents containing sensitive personal data were circulated on social media platforms. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding both the allegations and the dissemination of this material.
The Police emphasized that any official findings will be communicated once the investigation yields verifiable information.
